Have you been waiting long? I just got here myself. と言いたければ、 You are late! What took you so long?!

《英訳例》 Sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long? Sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long? Sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long? (1) No, just a few minutes. (2) No, not at all, I just arrived. (3) About ten minutes. (4) Since five. I've been playing baseball for three years now. (出典:Huffington Post-Apr 19, 2016) I've been playing football since I was 5.

▪ Sorry for being late, did you wait long? This is a direct way of saying sorry and asking directly if you made them wait long. ▪ Sorry guys, hope you didn't wait to long. This is a more casual way of saying sorry for coming late and asking them indirectly if they have waited long.
▪ Sorry for being late, did you wait long? ▪ Sorry guys, hope you didn't wait to long.

Always begin by saying sorry, as its polite to apologise for keeping the person waiting. By saying 'so' before the sorry, its like you are saying 'very' sorry, but its a more relaxed and casual way to say it. It's better to use the informal version when chatting with friends. To say 'ages' means a long period of time. For example: "When will the food be ready? It's been ages since we ordered!"
例文: "When will the food be ready? It's been ages since we ordered!"

First of all sorry is very important if you arrive late. There are a few ways of asking if they had to wait. What time did you arrive? Have you been waiting long? How long have you had to wait?
What time did you arrive? Have you been waiting long? How long have you had to wait?

The function of the above example sentence is to apologise (for arriving late), and also to enquire how long your friend has been waiting. In this example, the present perfect continuous form is used as the waiting occurred immediately prior to this conversation. An alternative could be: "Did I keep you waiting long?" (past simple continuous). Here, the waiting stopped with your arrival and you prefer to refer to the 'waiting' as a past activity. Both are acceptable although the present perfect form is probably the more common in the UK.
Did I keep you waiting long?(過去進行形) 長く待たせてしまいましたか?

In English we use the term running late to describe that we are late. For example, if someone does not set an alarm and wake up late the next morning he or she will be running late. This is a term that is common in both our everyday conversation and in more formal settings.

We can interchangeably use the terms, "for awhile," or, "for a long time," and still keep the same meaning in the sentence. Lastly we can say, "I hope I didn't keep you waiting," without directly asking if they had been waiting for awhile.
