Is it free? Does it cost money? No, it doesn't. とか It doesn't cost anything.

Is this for free?だと無料ですか? does it cost?

free=無料 Is this /Are these free?と聞けばYes or Noで返してくれると思いますので無料なのかわかると思います。 ちなみに単語の後ろにつくfreeは、なし、抜きの意味になります。 例えば sugar freeは、砂糖の入っていない、砂糖ぬきの という意味になります。

"Is that a freebie?" A: "Excuse me, are those tee shirts gratis?" B: "Yes, they are samples. You may take one."

  • Excuse me. Is the T-shirt free of charge?

  • Do I have to pay anything for this T-shirt?

    play icon

In the first question, the idiom 'excuse me' has been used. It is a polite way of attracting someone's attention. The phrase 'free of charge' refers to something that is given without being paid for, free of any payment. So, you may ask? Excuse me. Is the T-shirt free of charge? The second question is straightforward asking if there is any payment to be made for the T-shirt or not. So, you may ask: Do I have to pay anything for this T-shirt?.
Excuse me. Do I have to pay anything for this T-shirt?.(このTシャツは有料ですか?)

  • Does it come with a catch?

Is it free? - "free" means that it costs nothing; they are giving it away freely Does it come with a catch? - "a catch" is basically a trap, so when you catch something, an animal makes its way into a trap thinking it will get free food, but actually there is something negative waiting for him. A. Hey, I had a gift for you. B. Oh thank you, this is so nice. You really didn't have to do it! A. No worries, I really appreciate you. B. Wait, you don't normally do nice things for free. Does this come with a catch? Do I have to do something for you in return? A. No, really, I'm giving it to you free. You don't owe me any favors.
”Does it come with a catch?" A. Hey, I had a gift for you. (プレゼントがあります) B. Oh thank you, this is so nice. You really didn't have to do it! A. No worries, I really appreciate you. (いえいえ、いつも有難うございます) B. Wait, you don't normally do nice things for free. Does this come with a catch? Do I have to do something for you in return? A. No, really, I'm giving it to you free. You don't owe me any favors.

Either of the above would be a good way of asking if the t-shirts are free or if they are not free then how much do they cost.
