「発奮する」は be inspiredがぴったりだと思います。
inspireは、「勇気ややる気を起こすように励ます」という意味の動詞です。
「師匠」は、masterまたは mentor（指導者）がいいでしょう。
teacherでもいいですが、日本語の「師匠」の語感からすると味気ない感じです。
今の自分では勝てないだろうという師匠の言葉に発奮して、試合に勝つことができた。
