  • Does that still hurt?

【アメリカ英語です】 3~4歳以下のお子さんにだったら「痛み」は "ouch" (日本語でも知られている「アウチ」)を名詞使用するのが一般的です。より小さいお子さんには "ouch" の更に幼児語である "owie" (アウイー)と言うこともあります(No more owie? のように)。 大きめのお子さんには "Does that still hurt?" と言ってあげましょう。"Does that still hurt?" と "Does it still hurt?" の相違はないように感じますが、定冠詞の"the" は "that" から派生したという説があるように、 "that" は「どのケガをしているのか」という限定感を感じさせます。ですからその場に一緒にいて、例えば転んで怪我した膝小僧を一緒に見て話している状況であれば"Does that still hurt?" の方が適切です。ただ "Does it still hurt?" でも問題なく伝わるので、どちらを使ってもそこまで大差はありません。ただ、こういう微妙なところでネイティブらしさが出たり出なかったりします。

どちらもよく使います。Does itのように倒置疑問文にするなら上の例のように肯定文で、下の例のように「もう痛くない?」と否定形で聞くなら、倒置にしないでそのまま最後にクエスチョンマークをつけるのが自然だというのがネイティブの意見でした。

Doesn't it hurt anymore? もう痛まない? まずはシンプルにこう言えます。 もう〜ない not ~ anymore. でシンプルに表現できます。 またはシンプルに Has it gone? どっかいっちゃった? 傷などがあった場合はそこを指して こう言ってあげると、もう痛くない? と同じでもうどこかにいっちゃった? というニュアンスになるのでバッチリです。

「痛い」という表現はいろいろありますが、他の方々の回答にまだ出てこない言い方をご紹介します。 ache も「痛む」という意味ですので、 Does it still ache? で「もう痛くない?」と聞くことが出来ます。 このache は hurt と同様、動詞で、同じように使えますので、便利ですね。 (painは名詞のため、少々使い方が違います) hurtの場合は、「体の痛み」「心の痛み」どちらでも使えますので、それも覚えておくとよいでしょう。 The memory that he dumped me still hurts me. • Does it feel better (now)?

We can use 'now' at the end of the sentence to acknowledge that it did hurt in the past, but we are hoping that it has stopped hurting now. To 'feel better' is a phrase we often use in English to describe either physical or emotional feelings.
文末に 'now' を入れると「さっき痛がっていたよね(もう治まった?)」という気持ちを表せます。 'feel better' は心や体の状態について言う時によく使うフレーズです。

  • Are you still in pain?

    play icon

Here we can ask these two questions and they both have the same meaning and can be used interchangeably, however there are a few structural differences between the two. - "Does it still hurt?" -- Here we use the verb, "to hurt," to ask about the injury. - "Are you still in pain?" -- In this example we use the verb, "to be," followed by the noun, "pain," as this is the noun that describes the sensation we feel when we have an injury.
どちらの質問もこの場面で使うことができます。意味は同じです、置き換えて使えます。 ただ、いくつか構造的な違いもあります。 - "Does it still hurt?" -- ここでは、動詞 "to hurt"(痛む)を使ってけがについて尋ねています。 - "Are you still in pain?" -- この例では、"to be" の後に名詞の "pain" を続けています。"pain" には「痛み」という意味があります。
