I can speak a little.

  • I can hardly speak English.

I can speak a little"で全然大丈夫です。 また、 I can barely speak English.[英語がちょっとしかできない。](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/40887/) I can hardly speak English. そして、日本語で英語話せますか言いますけれども、英語では” Can you speak English"じゃなく、"Do you speak English"の方が良いです。 Can you speak English?

  • Not really...

  • Not much.

I'm learning English.

  • ~but please speak very slowly for me.

英語話せますか?(Do you speak English?) I can speak a little. それでしたら、「話せる」というのを強調せず, Only a little (bit). あるいは、 I can manage. などと言って、 どちらもその後に、but please speak slowly (for me). I can hardly speak English.(ほとんど話せない)や I can barely speak English.

Common informal phrases used in British English for being modest about how well you can do something are: 'Just a bit' -Do you speak English? -Just a bit 'A little' -Do you speak English? -A little These are good native phrases to use. I hope that helps!
Just a bit. - Do you speak English?(英語を話しますか?) - Just a bit.(少しなら。) A little - Do you speak English?(英語を話しますか?) - A little.

There are several ways to answer the questions, "Can you speak any English?" The most common ways are: a little bit, barely, sort of, hardly, not much, and a tiny bit. You want to make sure that you are saying that you can speak some, but not a lot, and you don't want to say that you can't speak any at all, so these are all very common phrases to express that you can speak some English, but not much. If you want to use complete sentences, you could say: I speak a little bit of English, but not a lot/not much. This is probably the most common and natural way to answer someone's question.
「Can you speak any English?(英語は話せますか)」への答え方はいくつかあります。一般的なのは: "a little bit"、"barely"、"sort of"、"hardly"、"not much"、そして "a tiny bit" (「全く話せない」ではなく)「少し話せるけどそんなには話せない」と伝えたいですよね。 I speak a little bit of English, but not a lot/not much.(少しは話せますがそんなには) これがたぶん最も一般的で自然な返答です。

I can understand English and speak a little I can understand English and speak the basics I can understand and speak a little English. All of these sentences explain that you are a beginner and are not fluent. A little, the basics - mean you can say hello and have a short conversation without the use of full sentences. If you were fluent you would be able to have full conversations with full sentences - no problem. I hope this helps Jane :)
I can understand English and speak a little(英語は理解できて、少し話せます) I can understand English and speak the basics(英語は理解できて、少し話せます) I can understand and speak a little English(英語は少し理解できて話せます) どれも、あなたが英語の初心者(beginner)で、流ちょうでないことを表す言い方です。 A little, the basics - "Hello" と言って(フルセンテンスを使わない)短い会話ならできるという意味です。

When you can understand English but cannot speak it fluently you can tell the person who has asked you that you do not speak fluent English but you understand them well. This would let them know that although you get what they are saying to you you may not be able to respond that well. I hope this helps Teacher Jemxi
