Parenting is a noun that means the raising up of children and everything else that is involved in doing so. These include sending the child to a kindergarten or crèche, sending the child to school, teaching the child good manners, making sure that the child's is kept healthy, keeping the child away from bad company, etc.

"Parenting" is also described as 'raising children", Parenting is more of a formal term and defines all the aspects of taking care/looking after your children.
