賞味期限にはBest before [日付](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/31167/)が使われ、[消費期限](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/38484/)であればUse by 日付 で記載されるのが一般的です。
Open dateは開封後の[品質](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/56747/)保証期限など表しているのではないかなぁと思い、調べてみたところ、店側がその商品を陳列して良い[期限](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/34517/)を表しているということでした。

Expiration date = 賞味期限
Expireには満了、終結、失効などの意味があります。そのためExpiration dateと言うと消費期限を想像してしまうかもしれませんが、実際には味の保証である賞味期限を指します。
Best byとbest beforeはもう少し柔らかい言い方ですが同じ意味をもちます。「この日まで食べるのがお勧めだよ」と言ったニュアンスです。
「消費出来る状態でない」と言いたい時に使うフレーズには以下のものがあります:
It's spoiled
It's gone bad
It isn't edible
スーパーに行くと商品には
best before date 賞味期限
sell by date 推奨販売期限
use by date 推奨消費期限
などが印刷されています。
日本で言う賞味期限はbest before dateが近い気がします。これは製造以降、新鮮味がどれくらい保たれているかを示すものでです。商品陳列の期間の目安としてはshelf dateという言葉がありますが、いずれも陳列撤去は義務でなかったと思います。
薬など有効性の期限などでしたら
expiration date
が使えると思います。
