上の表は、2018年3月に「名字由来ネット」が発表した全国名字ランキングトップ10にランクインした最も多い日本人の "Last Name/Surname/Family Name(名字)" です。

皆さんのラストネームはトップ10入りしていますか?ちなみに、私のラストネームは "Maiden Name(旧姓)" も今の "Married Name(結婚後に名乗る姓)" も圏外。

トップ10入りの名前を持つ人が周りに誰もいないという人は限りなくゼロに近いでしょう。1位~10位のラストネームを合計すると約1260万人!日本の人口のおよそ10%を占めているということですね。

ところで、皆さんは、外国人に ”What does your name mean?(あなたの名前はどういう意味なの?)” なんて聞かれたことはありませんか?
本記事では、最も多い日本人名を中心に「名前を説明するときに使える英語表現」をご紹介します。

先ず、日本人の名字について簡単に説明してみましょう。
