「この前、栗拾いに行ったけど、あまり採れなかった。」
pick up chestnuts off the ground で「地面に落ちている栗を拾う」

We went chestnut picking the other day, but there were only a few on the ground.
「この前、栗拾いに行ったけど、少ししか落ちていなかった。」
「あまり採れなかった」という言い方ではありませんが、「少ししか落ちていなかった」ということはあまり採れなかったという風にも取れますね。
