A "purse" differs between British & American English. In American English, a "purse" is a handbag & in British English, it is the female version of a "wallet." They are normally longer than a typical wallet & kept in a handbag. "How much is it? I'll just get my purse."
If you deal only with notes which some people may do as they don't like carrying coins, they use a "Money clip" which bundles the notes together. "Did you see that? He pulled out his money clip & there was a wad of cash in it!"
The way in which the world is going many people are now using pay contactless & don't carry cash.
