Vertical writing (script) : Mandarin, Korean, Japanese
Left to right writing (script) - as in Azeri script when written in Latin or Cyrillic scripts
Right to left writing (script) - as in Arabic script, Hebrew, Urdu.
Vertical Top to bottom (script) : Mandarin, Korean, Japanese
Writing or scripts that can be multi-directional - Japanese, Korean, Mandarin have such flexibility. They are usually written horizontally left to right or vertically top to bottom. Occasionally right to left too. Chinese newspapers can have all these combinations of script in their newspapers, which can make it look very interesting!

"Left to right" or "Right to left"
This describes writing written from one side of the page to another along a horizontal line.
Most Languages are written left to right but some such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian are written right to left.
"Typeface anatomy" Is the technical term for this type of writing.

Most European or western scrip is written left to right. However, other scripts are written right to left.
In a right-to-left, top-to-bottom script (commonly shortened to right to left or abbreviated RTL), writing starts from the right of the page and continues to the left.
Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu are the most widespread RTL writing systems in modern times.
As usage of the Arabic script spread, the repertoire of 28 characters used to write Arabic language was supplemented to accommodate the sounds of many other languages such as Persian, Pashto, etc.
While the Hebrew alphabet is used to write Hebrew language, is also used to write other Jewish languages such as Yiddish.
