言いたいことはあるのだけど、どのように表現したらよいか分からない時には
不自然な間を説明するため
"I'm trying to find a good word here."
「良い言葉を探しているの(→だからちょっと待っててね)」
とお伝えします。

自分に問うようなイメージでよく使われる表現です。
日本語でも「なんて言ったらいいの？ほら、あれあれ。」
みたいな感じで使う疑問文があると思います。
それにちかい感じです。

言うべきことが思いつかない。
なんて言ったらいいのか、とは少し違う
ニュアンスですがちょっと思いつかないんだよね、
というニュアンスが強くなるので、英語がわからないから言えない
というより、言うべきことが思いつかないから何も言えない、
という感じになります。
いずれにせよ、この辺がそもそも言えないと
何も言えないまま時がすぎる、
みたいなことになるので
どっちかはしっかりマスターしておくといいと思います。

Both have a similar reference, asking what is the word or phrase that is needed to say in a particular context.
'How' often referring to how to pronounce
'What" often referring to which word should be used.
"How should I say.."（どう言うんだろう）と "What should I say?"（なんて言えばいいのか）
これらはよく似た意味です。その時自分の探している言葉を尋ねます。
'How' は「発音の仕方」について言うことが多いです。
'What' は「どの言葉を使うべきか」について言うことが多いです。
"I don't know the word" is a simple way to tell someone you lack the vocabulary needed to express yourself correctly. "I don't know the expression" can be used if it is an expression you don't know. if you just want to let somebody know that you can't say it then you could say something like "how would you say ...... in English?"
however if you want to tell them that you cant say it and you would like their help to learn how to say it then you could say "I don't know how to say ...... in English, can you tell me?"
単に「言い方が分からない」と伝えるなら、"how would you say ...... in English?"（......は英語でどう言いますか）などと言えます。
「言い方が分からないので教えてもらえますか」まで言うなら、"I don't know how to say ...... in English, can you tell me?"（......を英語でどう言うか分かりません。教えてもらえますか）と言えます。
