So here in the UK when we say "Vacation/Holiday" we are usually referring to travelling on a holiday whether it be in another country or stay in your own country, So depending on how long your taking off work if you was only taking a day then you could say "I'm having a day off work" But if you was having more than a day off you could say "I'm taking time off work due to .." You could add a reason as to why if you wanted.
