祖先って英語でなんて言うの？

「祖先」という言葉を英語で表すと、「ancestor」という言葉も「forefather」という言葉も使っても良いと考えました。複数形は「ancestors」と「forefathers」です。「Forefather」の中にある「father」という言葉の意味は「お父さん」ですが、「forefather」という言葉を説明している人の性別をかかわずに使っても良いです。例文は「I drew a family tree of my ancestors.」と「I drew a family tree of my forefathers.」です。

家系や家柄の祖先の場合は｢ancestry｣､個人を指す場合の先祖は｢ancestor｣となります｡
