県大会って英語でなんて言うの？

1.) prefectural tournament(県大会)　「県大会」は英語でprefectural tournamentと直訳できます。アメリカで「州大会」は英語でstate tournamentと言います。普通はstate tournamentはstateと省略できます。それでprefectural tournamentはprefecturalsとも省略できます。 例えば、 Let's aim for the prefecturals!(県大会を目指しましょう！)

「県」はprefectureと言います。例えば、「埼玉県」、「福井県」、「徳島県」などはSaitama Prefecture, Fukui PrefectureとTokushima Prefectureになります。しかし、「大阪府」や「京都府」もprefectureと呼ばれています。「東京都」と「北海道」はTokyo MetropolitanとHokkaido Islandsになります。 competitionは「試合」です。英語ではtournament, championshipかcompetitionでも用いてもOKです。違いがあまり知られていません。tournamentとchampionshipの違いは１対１チームが試合して（tournament）勝ったチームがchampionshipへ進む。そのchampionshipで最後に優秀なチームを選ばれる試合です。

「県大会」はprefectural tournamentになります。 他のは「地方大会」"regional tournament”、 「州大会」"state tournament"（特にアメリカに使う表現）、 「全国大会」"national tournament"と言います。 省略では"regionals"(地方大会)、"state"(州大会)、"nationals”(全国大会)になります。
