頭の数字を変えてくださいって英語でなんて言うの？

例えば1,000番台の数字を頭の数字だけ3に変えて下さいと言いたいとき、
please change the first number from 1 to 3.　
で正しいでしょうか。または千の位の数字を変えるという言い方があるのでしょうか。

一番適切な言い方はこう、
\"Please change the first digit.\"
\"please change ~\" 「〜を変えてください」
\"the first\" 「一つ目」・「最初の」・「頭の」
\"digit\" 「数字」\"digit\" はいつも一つだけの数字を指します。

例えば  12　が　\"2 digits\" を持っている
