英語にはよろしくお願いしますの直訳はないって英語でなんて言うの?

言語交換をしている友人が「明日から新しい文法を教えますね」と言ってくれたので、日本語で"よろしくお願いします"と書いて英訳を付けたかったのですが、直訳はありませんでした。"よろしくお願いしますに直訳がないことを英語で説明するには、どう言えばいいですか?

  • You can’t translate yoroshiku onegaishimasu

  • There isn’t a translation to English for yoroshiku onegaishimasu

  • You can’t always translate Japanese to English, for example yoroshiku onegaishimasu

There isn’t always a direct translation for words or phrases between different languages. In this instance yoroshiku onegaishimasu can’t be translated. Any of the three sentences above are correct

  • No equivelent...untranslatable

  • Sometimes there are no equivalent phrases that adequately describe core meaning!

Whenever a phrase contains a specific cultural reference, there may well be, "no equivalent phrase... It may actually be untranslatable! And an "interpretation my be used instead...Since it has many associations... (A favour is a good approximation;-) (look after me) This is more common than one might imagine...And it occurs in all languages at some point...Sometimes there are no equivalent phrases that adequately describe core meaning!

  • The Japanese phrase "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu" cannot be directly translated into English.

  • There is not a word for word translation for this phrase/expression.

A direct translation is also known as "Word-for-word translation." This is where a phrase may not sound right, but it is grammatically correct. Examples: "The Japanese phrase "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu" cannot be directly translated into English." "This phrase cannot be directly translated into English without losing some of it's meaning. "There is not a word for word translation for this phrase/expression." "Is there a word for word translation of this book at the library?"

This is a common situation in not only Japanese but many languages. If you are speaking with a non-Japanese speaker it is always helpful to speak slowly when integrating your Japanese words in English sentences. It is rather simple to memorize this sentence for when this situation arises - "There is no direct English translation of "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu".

  • This phrase has no direct English translation.

To explain that this phrase or any other phrase has no direct translation in English, use the sentences above. There are many words or phrases in many different languages that cannot be directly translated, we can only give a loose explanation of what they mean. In this case, you can let the person know that you can explain what the phrase means but it cannot be directly translated because the word or words do not exist in the other language.
