「膿む」は英語で to fester もしくは to form pus と言います。To get infected も言えます。
get infected - 感染する
例えば、傷口にばい菌は入ったせいで膿んだ - The/My wound festered because of bacteria/ Pus formed inside the wound because of bacteria.
(怪我をして)足の親指が膿んでいる - I injured my big toe and now it's infected / I injured my big toe and now pus has formed inside. I injured my big toe and now it's festering も言えますが fester を聞いたらかなりグロテスクなイメージが浮かびます。このFester は滅多に使わないですし、古い感じがします. Infected もしくは there's pus inside... の方が一般的です。
足の親指が膿んでいる- Pus has formed inside my big toe/ My big toe is infected.
足の親指 - big toe
「膿む」は to be/get infected を使っていうと自然かと思います。
例：
My big toe is infected because I cut it the other day and didn't clean it afterwards.
「この前、足の親指を切った後、綺麗にしなかった（消毒しなかった）から膿んでいる。」
I have an infection in my big toe.
「足の親指が膿んでいる。」
have an infection in ... という言い方もできます。
My big toe is swollen and looks infected, so I think I need to drain the puss.
「足の親指が腫れて膿んでいるようだから、膿を出さないといけないかも。」
puss で「膿」という意味です。
drain the puss で「膿を出す」
