When hiring graduates, employers often base their evaluations on how well-known their alma mater is.

One of the issues that come up when people are job hunting in Japan is that employers put a lot of weight on whether a candidate is from an established university.
「ネームバリュー」、あるいは「ネームバリューがある」は、以下のように言えます：
・established name
・have a name
・well known
英訳１：base their evaluations on ...で「…に基づいて、評価している」という意味を表しています。
alma materとは、「母校」の意味です。
英訳２：「採用の際、雇い主は候補者をネームバリューがある大学を出ているかどうかで評価する傾向がある」というのが直訳です。
tend to ...は「…する傾向がある」、evaluateは「評価する」、whetherは接続詞で「～かどか」という意味です。
英訳３：「日本で人々が就職活動をしているときに出てくる問題の一つは、雇用者が候補者が有名大学出身かどうかに重きを置いていることです」というのが直訳です。
job huntingは「就職活動」、put (a lot of) weight on ...は「…に重点を置く」、candidateは「候補者」という意味です。
