土壇場って英語でなんて言うの?

どうにもならない状況をいいますが、英語ではどのように言うのでしょうか。

英語では at the last minute、つまり「最後の1分で」という言い方をしますね。 I came up with this brilliant solution at the last minute. 土壇場でこの素晴らしい解決策を思いついたんだ。 なお「come up with ~」は「思いつく」に当たる表現です。

1番目は、エアロスミスの歌(Living on the Edge)にもありますね。edge(際)に住んでいる、という意味合いから「崖っぷち」とか「瀬戸際」とかという意味です。 2番目は、「(どの分)選択の余地がない状況に住んでいる」という意味合いから、土壇場が表現できます。 お役に立てば幸いです☆

「土壇場」を「最後の瞬間」という意味で使われる場合は At the last minuteという表現が使えます。 At the last minute, the event got canceled. 「土壇場で、そのイベントはキャンセルされた」 「どうにもならない状況」という意味のご質問に関しては下記表現があります。 in clutch situation clutch=「踏ん張りどころ、ピンチ」 in clutch situation=「踏ん張りどころ、(どうにもならない状況)」 I’m in a clutch situation. 「土壇場(ピンチ)の状態にあります」 be stuck in~=「~の状態で身動きが取れなくなる(どうにもならない状況)」 stuckはstickの過去分詞で、「固まる」とい意味です。 I was stuck in heavy traffic. 「渋滞で身動きが取れない状態でした」 ご参考まで
