床の間って英語でなんて言うの？

「床の間」ですね？

説明になるのですが、

① 'Tokonoma' is an elevated alcove in a traditional Japanese room.
※ elevated　高く作られた
※ alcove　アルコーブ、凹んだ小部屋

② 'Tokonoma' is an alcove in a traditional Japanese room where the art or flowers is displayed.
※ display　飾る

A tokonoma is a receded Alcove, （床の間は アルコーブで ） in a Japanese style tatami room, 和室にある with a wooden base and decorative items placed within （床が木でできて 飾り物も 置いておくところです）

A simpler way of describing （もっとシンプルな説明は ）would be to say that it has a decorative cubby and a Japanese room. （和室にある 飾り物ようの ところです）
