一般的に「置き換える」ことを"replace"という動詞を用いて使うことが多いです。
例文：Let's replace the word, "pretty" with "beautiful".
「”Pretty"という言葉を”Beautiful"に置き換えよう。」
シチェーションにも寄りますが、”Change"（変える・変わる）や”Substitute"（代わりにする・なる）を使うことがあります。
