ありふれたって英語でなんて言うの？

1) I can only think of a typical response to that.
「典型的な返答しか思いつかない。」
typical で「典型的な・定型的な」
response で「返答・応答」
typical response で「ありふれた言葉」を表現しました。

2) I can't think of anything out of the ordinary to say about this.
「並の言葉しか思いつかない。」
ordinary は「並の・平凡な」という意味なので、ordinary to say about... で「ありふれた言葉」を表現しました。

common = 一般的な、ありふれた
word = 言葉
mind = こころ、気持ち

common のところにsimple をいれれば、派手な大げさな言葉というより、ありふれたシンプルな言葉しか思い浮かばないといった感じになります。
