「先日エックス線の検査を受けたら胸水が溜まっていると言われました。」= When I had an x-ray exam the other day they said I had a build up of pleural fluid.
「先日」= the other day
「エックス線」= x-ray
「検査を受けた」= had an exam
「胸水」= pleural fluid
「〜溜まる」= build up
英語で医療的な表現は「pleural effusion」と言います。
「重度な胸水があると治療が必要です」= A severe pleural effusion needs treatment.
学術的にはpleural effusionと言いますが、一般にはfluid in the chestと表現できます。
a buildup of excessive fluid in the space between the lungs and the chest cavity（肺と胸腔の間の空間に溜まった過剰な体液）
「胸水」という言葉を英語で表すと、「pleural effusion」という表現になります。この言葉は結構科学的なイメージがあります。もっと会話的な言葉を使いたい場合に、「fluid in one’s chest」という表現を使っても良いと考えました。「Chest」は「胸」という意味があって、「fluid」は「液体」という意味があります。例えば、「The X-ray showed a large amount of fluid in his chest.」と言っても良いです。
