In the UK, a shop that sells alcohol or liquor is called an "off licence". They are generally small stores selling other foods, drinks and miscellaneous items. As a slang word they are often referred to as an "offy", and usually aren't allowed to sell alcohol past a certain time (usually 23:00).
They aren't the only stores that are allowed to sell alcohol however. Petrol stations and supermarkets are also permitted to sell alcohol.
"I'm going to the liquor store to buy a bottle of wine."
"Get me a four-pack of beer when you go to the offy."
In the UK, a shop that sells alcohol is called an off-licence. In the US they would spell it "off-license." You can buy all types of beer, wines and spirits, as well as snacks like crisps and nuts, which you would normally eat whilst drinking alcohol. All off-licences are private businesses.
In the US a place that sells alcohol is called a "liquor store." They can be state-owned (owned by the local government) or privately run.
"Offy" is a slang word that people in the UK use for "off-licence." This word is commonly used by young and old alike.

Let's head for the liquor store on the way to the party please;-)
In Europe, we may say ''Off-licence'' e.g UK & Ireland.
While in the United States ''Liquor store''
Though I have heard people use Liquor store in Ireland too, so you wouldn't be wrong to say that either.
''I need to go down to the Off-License for a few beers''
''Let's go to the Liquor store before''
''I need to go down to the Off-License for a few beers''(酒屋に行ってビールを買ってこないといけない)
''Let's go to the Liquor store before''(その前に酒屋に行きましょう)
