南南西って英語でなんて言うの？

日本語の「南南西」等と同じように、英語でも言葉の前に最も近い方位を付けます。 例えば、南西の中で南が近い方位の場合、南南西になります。 英語でも、southwestの中でsouthが近い方位の場合、south-southwestになります。 英語の場合、必ず最初の方位とその次はハイフンで繋ぎます。 時計回りに北から全ては以下です。 北：north 北北東：north-northeast 北東：northeast 東北東：east-northeast 東：east 東南東：east-southeast 南東：southeast 南南東：south-southeast 南：south 南南西：south-southwest 南西：southwest 西南西：west-southwest 西：west 西北西：west-northwest 北西：northwest 北北西：north-northwest

「南南西」は south-southwestと言います。地図などで “SSW”の省略を使います。例えば “Proceed south-southwest for fifty kilometers.” （南南西へ５０キロメートル進んで下さい。）他に “south-southeast” （SSE）（南南東）、 “east-southeast” （ESE）（東南東）、 “east-northeast” （ENE）（東北東）、 “north-northeast” （NNE）（北北東）、 “north-northwest” （NNW）（北北西）、 “west-northwest” （WNW）（西北西）、 “west-southwest”（WSW）（西南西）もあります。
