「書き残す」はちょっと訳しにくいですが、だいたい「leave a paper trail」や「put in writing to leave a record」になります。
「I am just writing to keep it as record.」を言えますが、ちょっと不自然です。
実はネーティブはよく「leave a paper trail」と言います。この英語の表現を直訳すれば、「紙の証跡を残す」と言います。
例文：
Although I've explained it by phone, just to be sure, I'll write it again in an email to leave a paper trail.
電話でも説明したけど、念のためにメールで書き残して送っておきますね
