これを調べますと processus; process; apophysis; projection; enation などなどが出ますが、これらを使わず、だいたい protrusion と言います。これは名詞ですが、protrusion より protruding という言い方が一番普通です。例えば、The nail is protruding from the board（釘が板から出っ張っている）と言えます。

また、突起物は「Protruding object」になります。

「突起」や「突起物」には主に三つの言い方があります
使い方についての明確な区別はありませんが、protuberance はこぶのような丸みを帯びた突起を指すこともあります。
