「源」は「Source」と英語で言います。
光源ですので「Light source」と訳したらいいかもしれないですね。
次のような言い方をお勧めします：
- When I take pictures, I'm always conscious of where the light source is（写真を撮るときはいつも光源の位置を意識しています。）
光源は光の源なので light source と言えるでしょう。
また光源を意識するということは光の方向を意識するという意味でもあるので、direction of light とも言えると思います。
When I take pictures, I take notice where exactly the light source is.
写真を撮るときは、光源がどこかに注意します。
One should know the direction of light in order to capture good images.
良い映像を捉えるためには、光の方向を意識すべきです。
