また、雷によって何かが被害を受けるときには、「struck by lightning(雷に打たれた)」と表現します。

これらどれでも使うことができます。激しい雷雨の間は、雷がなり、落雷します。雷の光のことを、a bolt of lightning(稲妻)と言います。

We generally explain the phenomenon as it appears and we do not use the word " fall" as we do in snow and rain. You could say :
-There's a thunder storm today!
-Oh look there is lightning striking!
-There is a lightning bolt !
It would also be great to use adjectives to describe your opinion of this phenomenon.
EX:
--There's a terrible thunder storm today!
一般的には、自然現象は見たとおりに表すので、雪や雨の時とは違い、"fall" は使いません。こう言うことが出来ます。
例文
-There's a thunder storm today!
今日は雷雨だ
-Oh look there is lightning striking!
ねえ、見て!!落雷があったよ
-There is a lightning bolt !
稲妻だ
形容詞を使ってこれについての意見を言ってもいいと思います。
例文
--There's a terrible thunder storm today!
今日はひどい雷雨だね
The thunder has begun and lightning will also strike
There is a storm approaching
Saying the word "strike" is what you refer to when describing the effect of lightning. For example, the lightning strikes the ground. Or the lightning stuck the ground (past tense).
You can also refer to thunder and lightning as a "storm", which is a collective term for thunder and lightning together.
"strike" は雷光(lightning)の結果をいいます。
例えば、"the lightning strikes the ground"(雷が落ちる)、あるいは "the lightning stuck the ground"(雷が落ちた)。
雷鳴(thunder)と雷光は "storm" で表すこともできます。"storm" は雷鳴と雷光を合わせた言葉です。
Lightning is only one part of a thunderstorm. When you see a lightning strike, which can either be in the form of a fork coming down towards the ground or a big flash of light throughout the sky, it is always followed by a clap (loud sound) of thunder.
When we can hear thunder, we can say 'a thunderstorm is on the way'. If there is a lots of rain and lots of loud thunder, we can call this a 'thunderstorm'. The same can be said when there is lots of lightning. We can refer to this as a 'lightning storm'. When there is a thunder and lightning at the same time, it is common for people to group these together and say there is 'a thunder and lightning storm'.
When lightning is hitting or 'striking' the Earth, we can call this a 'lightning strike'. We can say, for example, 'did you see that lightning strike!?'.
雷鳴を聞いたら、'a thunderstorm is on the way'(雷雨が来る)と言えます。激しい雷雨のことは 'thunderstorm' と言えます。
激しい稲妻(lightning)が走るときも同じです。これは 'lightning storm'(稲光を伴った嵐)と言えます。
雷鳴と稲妻両方を伴う場合は、'a thunder and lightning storm'(激しい雷雨)とよく言います。
落雷は 'lightning strike' といいます。
例えば:
'Did you see that lightning strike!?'(雷が落ちるの見ましたか)
We can use the words above to describe the lights or loud sounds that come from the sky during a storm.
An electric storm is when the sky is full of lightning and thunder but little or no rain.
A lightning strike is a strike of lightning, a bolt that flashes across the sky.
A lightning storm consists of lightning lighting up the sky.
If it rains and thunder and lightning also falls, this can be called:-
