ちょっと調べてみましたが、いろいろな言い方があって混乱しました、、、
筆箱には『箱』タイプのものと『袋』タイプのものがありますよね。
それによって呼び方が変わることがあります。
私が調べたところ「pencil case」は、『箱』タイプの筆箱にも、『袋』タイプの筆箱にも
使われていました。
一番一般的なのかなと思いまして「pencil case」を提案させていただきました。
【例】
"I still have a pencil case I made with my Dad when I was 13," he said.

A pencil case is the most commonly used term for a small bag that is used to hold stationary. The interesting thing is it doesn't need to contain pencils to be called a 'pencil case'. This term was created a long time ago when students primarily used pencils!
Stationary is a blanket term for all equipment used in a work capacity. You can say 'my stationary case' (it is technically more correct) but it is less common!
When we have a soft material holding our pencils, we refer to it as a pouch. We can also avoid using just the word pencil and use the more general "Writing Utensils" to show that we are bringing all of our instruments for writing with us.

Stationery' is a noun used when we refer to writing materials such as pen, pencil, ruler etc. We can keep these in a 'case' or 'holder' in order to make them easy to carry around.

筆箱は英語で pencil case と言うことができます。
pencil は鉛筆という意味の英語表現です。
case はケースという意味です。

I forgot to bring my pencil case. Can I borrow a pencil?
