A glutton has somewhat of a bad connotation to it but it means some one who eats WAY too much!
For example, everyone finished eating at the part but you see a guy that keeps serving himself cake over and over again.
That's a glutton.
A foodie, on the other hand, is a recent word that came from the internet.
People who love to try new foods and simply love to eat call themselves a "foodie". It's kind of like saying they are a "fan" of food.
And it doesn't have a negative meaning like glutton does.
My wife is happy when she is eating food.
My wife is grumpy when she gets/is hungry.
The person has a big appetite
This is a more polite way and a more respectful way of saying that someone loves food, without directly offending them.
A "foodie"
This is a more casual way of describing a person who loves to eat. This is usually used between friends.
It would not be appropriate to be used referring to the elderly.
The person has a big appetite
A "foodie"
eat like a horse
He really eats like a horse!
eat like a bird
She eats like a horse. より、She eats like a bird.
a big eater, eat a lot, a glutten, have a big appetite
