警察官って英語でなんて言うの？

警察官は police officer といいます。
少し崩した言い方が②のcopです。
スラング的には popo や five-oh などがあります。

「cop」はスラングで、俗っぽい表現です。
映画等でよく耳にする表現です。

"police officers" ←丁寧な言い方です。

"the police" ←"the"があるのは普通ですが、なくても通じます。

"cops" ←アメリカ英語のスラングです。直接警察官に"cop"と言うと、多少失礼です。

「人々の安全を守る警察官がカッコいいなぁ～と思っていましたが、最近では運転中どこかに隠れていないかびくびくしています。」の例文：
・"I've always thought that police officers are cool because they protect people, but lately when driving I am afraid that they are hiding somewhere on the road."

・"I've always thought that the police are cool because they protect people, but lately when driving I am afraid that they are hiding somewhere on the road."

Police officer=警察官（丁寧な言い方）に対し、copはスラング、口語的表現で警察官を意味します。
以前はPolicemanという表現もありましたが、性にとらわれない表現が主流になってきておりますのでPolice officer という言い方が主流です。

Fireman→Firefighter(消防士）
Stewardess→Flight attendant(客室乗務員）
Businessman →Businessperson（事業家）
key man→key person（キーパーソン/鍵となる人物）

一人の場合警察官＝police officer
複数の場合＝policemenと言ったりします

スラングで言う時は、the cops(複数形）

例えば警察から逃げようとしている少年ギャング達が
”Oh look, the cops are here! run!"と言ったりします。

「警察官」は英語で"police officer"、"peace officer"もしくは"gendarme"です。"peace officer"には「保安官」という意味、"gendarme"には「（フランスの）憲兵」という意味もあります。

例えば、"We had an event and some police officers came to our school for that.「（私達は）あるイベントを開催し、その為に警察官が来校しました。」"や"Peace officers caught the bank robberies yesterday.「警察は昨日、その銀行強盗を捕まえました。」"のように使うことができます。

なお、俗語としては、"bull"や"bobby"といったものもあります。
