If I understand your question correctly you are asking about someone who is of a lower rank - at work maybe? A new person in a work environment is often called a junior, trainee or apprentice. There is a trainee teacher in my school. She is not experienced and is going to learn while she is working. There is a junior in our office. She is only 18 and this is her first job.
