It is always ideal to comment or say things straightforwardly, without vagueness, as done in the first line. However, you still maintain clarity if you comment as in the second line. The difference is that the subject has changed. In the first line, the subject was the 'lesson', but it has now changed to 'I'.
In the last comment, you used the phrase 'much better' meaning a great deal 'better'. Please note that the word 'better' is the comparative degree of the adjective 'good'. The superlative degree is 'best'.
So, you may say:
This lesson has taught me a lot.
or
I have learnt a lot about how to play tennis in this lesson.
or
I know tennis much better after this lesson.

あなたのレッスンはとても勉強になりました。
help me a lot で「私をたくさん助けてくれた」が直訳になりますが、ニュアンスとしては「たくさん勉強になった」に近いです。
