どうして新品ではなく古着が好きなのか聞かれた時に答えたくて質問させていただきました。
よろしくお願いいたします。

I want to dress differently from other people, so I often buy used clothes. 
「他の人とは違う服装をしたいので、よく古着を買います」
の意味です。

この場合のdressは動詞で、【dress＋副詞】で「～な服装をする」の意味です。
例）
She dressed casually.「彼女はカジュアルな服装をしてた」
You should dress formally.「フォーマルな服装をしないといけません」

人と被らない 「他の人と（同じものを）着ない」という意味で、 so I don't wear the same things as everyone else. と表現するのが自然です。 または、unique（ユニーク、個性的な）という単語を使って、 to have unique items.（ユニークなアイテムを持つために。） と表現することもできます。
