（手段と目的を）履き違えるって英語でなんて言うの？

「履き違える」はmistakeと言います。でも、confuseにも訳せると思います。

「手段」はwayとかmethodとかmeansなどです。
「目的」はpurposeです。

英語では「履き違える」は「to put (shoes) on the wrong feet by mistake」になりますが、日本語と同じように、考えや観念の場合では、「to misunderstand why」や「to confuse」になります。

ただの間違いではなくて、よく深い観念を履き違えるときに使えます。

因みに「手段」＝「measures」や「steps」と「目的」＝「goals」です。
