この場合、次のような言い方ができると思います。

ーThis was chosen as one of the hundred most famous castles in Japan.
「これは（この城は）日本の100名城の一つに選ばれました」
one of the hundred most famous castles in Japan で「日本の１００名城の一つ」と言えます。

ーThis castle was selected in the top one hundred castles in Japan. 
「この城は日本の１００名城に選ばれました」
the top one hundred castles in Japan で「日本の１００名城」
