「あまり○○したことがなかった」は英語で「haven't really....」と言います。
また、「その人はいつも正面からしかテレビに映らないので、あまり頭の後ろ側を見たことなくて、みんな[ロン毛](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/119766/)だと知らなかった」と言いたいなら、そうすると、「We've always seen that guy from the front side only on TV, so we haven't really had the chance to see him by his side. Which is why everyone was surprised to know he had long hair.」という風に言えます。

ーWe usually see him from the front on TV, so I've never really seen the back of his head. I didn't know he had long hair.
「たいてい彼を正面から見るから、あまり彼の頭の後ろを見たことがなかった。彼がロン毛だったのを知らなかったよ」
I've never really XX. で「あまりXXしたことがなかった」と言えます。
