ご質問について、historic がそのものの重要性を強調する（[歴史上重要・有名な](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/49270/)という意味）ことに対して、historical は、歴史に関する、歴史上のということだけを伝えます。historical には特に重要性を強調するということないというのが違いですね！
例えば、
This ancient castle is a historic site visited by thousands every year.
『この古い城は、年間何千人もの人に訪れる歴史的（重要な・有名な）な場所です。』
The town has many historical sites, each with its own unique story.
『その町には多くの歴史的な場所があり、それぞれに独自の物語があります。』
となります。
