In really casual conversations, to imply that something is fast you can say that it "flies by" or "passes in the blink of an eye." Also, to say that something like an event or increment of time passed really quickly, you could use the phrase "over before I knew it." You could say: - Time flies when you're having fun. - My 20s flew by! - College passed by in the blink of an eye. - High school was over before I knew it. - My vacation was over before I knew it.
The weekends fly by! The weekends pass in the blink of an eye The weekend was over before I knew it. 実際の会話では、何か早いことにはflies byというフレーズやpasses in the blink of an eyeといったイディオムが使われます。 - Time flies when you're having fun. - My 20s flew by! - College passed by in the blink of an eye. - High school was over before I knew it. - My vacation was over before I knew it.

{英訳例} The weekends go by so fast. ↓ The weekends go by 週末は過ぎる so fast とても速く {解説} go by は「(時が)過ぎる, 経過する」(英辞郎)という意味です。 {例} It's amazing how fast a year goes by. Time goes by so fast. It's hard to believe that it is ten months; time passes so quickly. Southern Star Newspaper-Nov 14, 2016】 Ten years ago? How time flies. The Wrong Door: The Complete Plays of Natalia Ginzburg】 ~~~~~ 参考になれば幸いです。

■Weekends go by too fast!

blink, and it's gone / gone in the blink of an eye - you can use this to describe anything that seems to have gone unnoticed e.g. She is such a fast runner that you don't even notice when she runs by you. Blink, and she's gone, leaving nothing but a quick breeze in her path.
blink it's gone / gone in the blink of an eye - これを何か気づかれずに終わってしまったように思えることについて説明するのに使うことができます。 例: She is such a fast runner that you don't even notice when she runs by you. Blink, and she's gone, leaving nothing but a quick breeze in her path.

  • Its scary just how the weekends fly past.

    play icon

Weekends are supposed to be used for relaxation with family or with friends. However, it just happens that most of the time, one finds oneself busy at work doing overtime, or, one is invited to exciting parties where one enjoys oneself so much that the weekends just disappear into thin air. The adjective 'scary' used here means 'frightening'. Its scary because you never seem to have time to yourself and your family. So, you may say: It's scary just how the weekends fly past.

"The weekend always flies by." uses the popular expression "flies by" to refer to time moving too quickly. "I wish weekends were longer." is another common way of expressing that you would like Saturdays and Sundays to have more time so the weekend wouldn't end so quickly. Even though this is wishing for the impossible, the true meaning will be easily understood.
