Is there snow on the ground? Did you get any snow? ちなみに、 Did it snow? は動詞のsnow Did you get any snow over there? How much snow did you get last night? We had 10 centimeters of snow. <ボキャブラリー> snow = 雪 ground = 地面 on the ground = 地面に centimeter(s) = センチメートル

Did it snow over there?

  • Did it snow?

If you ask "did the snow stick," you're asking if the snow stayed on the ground (雪積もった) or if it melted immediately. In other words, you already know that it snowed. If you want to know if it snowed at all, you can use "did it snow." If you want to know how much it snowed, you can use "did you get a lot of snow."
"did the snow stick," は雪が積もったかすぐ溶けたか、という意味です。 どれぐらい雪が降ったか知りたい場合は "did you get a lot of snow."

Did the snow build up? 雪積もったから気をつけてね - The snow has built up so be careful もう溶けちゃった。 I wish it could have stuck.

Has the snow piled up と言えます。 It's snowing, but it's not piling up

  • Did the snow accumulate?

When snow is described as "sticking" to the ground, this means that the snow has not melted right away, so it is the perfect texture and temperature to stay on the ground and accumulate. Accumulate means to build up or gather a lot of something.

  • Did it snow and did the snow drift?

If snow piles up as it does sometimes against hedges and other obstacles - especially if there is a wind, then this is know as 'drifting' or the formation of 'snow drifts.' If the snow continues for a long time, the drifts may become quite deep and this may cause closure of railways, roads and airports. "Did it snow and did the snow drift?" "Yes, and yes. I think i will be stuck in the airport tonight as all flights are cancelled."

  • Is snow covering the ground?

"Is snow covering the ground?" Unlike in Aomori, when it snows here, it rarely covers the ground.

  • Did the snow stick?

"Is there snow on the ground?" and, "Did the snow stick?" both ask the question if there is snow present on the ground. With the second phrase, we use the verb, "to stick," to describe that there was enough snow to see the snow physically on the ground after the fact. "Did it snow over there?," is just a general way of asking if it had snowed and has no indication or questioning of whether or not there was snow still physically on the ground.
"Is there snow on the ground?" と "Did the snow stick?" "Did it snow over there?"(そちらでは雪は降りましたか)は、雪が降ったかどうかを尋ねる質問で、積もったかどうかについては触れていません。
