でも英語では、classical music です。
classicというのは、誰しもが知る昔からの名作を意味します。
classic rock で６０年代～７０年代あたりの、有名なロックを指します。
ちょっと混同しやすいので、注意しましょう。
一番大まかな言い方で答えさせていただきます。
「名作」は「classic」です。映画にも使えるし、本も音楽のアルバムにも。
複数形としても使います。

Old school = 古き良き
少し砕けた表現で、懐かしい！と言ったニュアンスが加わります。

言葉の成り立ちを見ると、master と piece に分かれます。
master は「名人の」「熟練の」の意味。
pieceは「片(へん)」という意味で
A piece of cake なら「ケーキのひときれ」のように使います。
芸術(art)も数えられない不加算名詞で
