上の表現は丁寧な言い方ですが
・アメリカでは２０代以上女性に年を聞かない
・アメリカでは仕事の面接などでは年を聞くと法律違反
ご注意ください。
[学生](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/33142/)（高校生以下）なら、歳じゃなくて、[学年](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/42350/)を聞く場合が多い。

できるだけ丁寧な方法で[年齢](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/33031/)を聞きたい場合、「① May I ask your age please?」を推奨します。
「May I?」は当然、丁寧な出だしで、「ask your age please」は「年齢を[お尋ね](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/51173/)できますか」なので、「① May I ask your age please?」が私の推奨する一番丁寧な英語です。

“できるだけ丁寧な言い方”とのことですが、やはり年齢に関してだけは日本と同じマナーが存在します。
そこで、年齢を聞く質問の形態にはそんなにいくつもの異なったニュアンスの聞き方が存るわけでは無いので、ポイントは以下に文頭でへりくだった言い方をするかにかかってくると思います。
そんないくつかの例を挙げてみました。
最初の例は、“Excuse me for asking”（訪ねることで失礼しますが・・・）
そして、“Would it be alright if I ask”（伺っても大丈夫でしょうか？ → いいですか？）
“how old you may be”（ “how old you are”：（歳が）いくつなのか、に、敬語でよく使う“may” を入れて、より敬語っぽく、丁寧なニュアンスを入れた表現）
二個目も“Sorry for asking”（訪ねて申し訳ありませんが・・・）、これに対して“I need to know”、つまり“知る必要がある”、→“どうしても伺わなければならないので・・・・”というようなニュアンスを入れた低姿勢の聞き方。
同時に、“What your age is”（あなたの年齢がいくつであるか）だけで切らずに、“right now”（たった今の）という余計な単語をさらに増やすことで、英語ならではの数多くの単語を並べた表現の方が“間接的”、すなわち柔らかい表現にもっていきます。
最後は“pardon me for asking”（訪ねる私をどうかお許しください。）、これに、“I’d appreciate”（○○して下さると大変ありがたいんですが・・・）、 そして “if you can tell me”（もし教えていただけるのであれば・・・・）、という超低姿勢な聞き方ですね。
面倒でも時には聞かなければならない厄介な質問。ありますよね～！！
そんな時毎回使えるこういった表現を覚えておくのも一つの秘訣かもしれません。

Some people might be more comfortable telling you their age or the year in which they were born if you share about yourself. This way you are sharing information as well as learning more about the other person.

年齢を聞くために一般的な表現はこれです。
例えば書類のため、
くじ引きやクレジットカードの申込みのために年齢を聞くことは無礼ではありません。
このような表現もあります。

→私は1989年に生まれました。あなたの生まれた年はいつでしょうか？
年齢を直接尋ねられるよりも、生まれた年を尋ねられるほうを好む人もいます。
この表現では相手の情報を聞くだけではなく、
自身についてのの情報も話し相手に伝えることが出来ますね。
By first saying the phrase "If you do mind me asking" it shows that you are been polite and also informing them that even if they do not want to share their age you are okay with it.
最初に"If you do mind me asking"を言うと、丁寧に年齢を言いたくなくても大丈夫だということを伝えることができます。
Asking someone's age may be a delicate subject, especially in the case of more mature or elderly people, who may be sensitive about their age or perhaps simply don't want to be remionded about their age! Other than just asking someone about their age: "I was wondering how old your are?" for example, you could 'fish' for the answer by saying such things as: "You seem a little younger than me," in the hope that the listener will then volunteer their age.
他人の年齢を尋ねることは、特に成人や年配の人に聞く場合は、細心の注意を払わないといけません。

こう言うことで、自分から年齢を言ってくれることが期待できます。

If you would like to ask someone their age without being/sounding rude, you can say something like "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?". Most people do not mind sharing their age with you however in some cases some people may find is rude to ask one's age. This is a good way to ask someone should you worry about coming off rude in any way.
In some cultures/for some people it is considered rude to ask for someone's age. If you do ask this question it is important to ask it as politely as possible. Using phrases like: "excuse me", "may I" and "do you mind" are good ways to come across as more polite while you are asking this question.
