一般的には「Use the remote control」で通じますが、 省略して「use the remote」だけでも全然大丈夫です。
ちなみに、イギリスではリモコンを使った冗談があります。
サッカーのトラップが下手だと、ボールをコントロールできないことですが、
バカにする時は「He couldn't control a remote, let alone a ball」と言うと笑えます。
（リモコンすら操作できない彼はボールもトラップできない）。英国のユーモアです。
「リモコン」は「リモートコントロール」の略で "remote control" と書きます。「操作する」はただ単に "use" または "change settings" と言います。
例文：
"I used the remote control to change the temperature on the air conditioner." 「エアコンの温度を変えるためリモコンを操作した。」
"I changed the settings of the TV using the remote control." 「テレビの設定を変えるためリモコンを操作した。」
