Aさんを含めて、数人のグループが、〇(例:イスラム教、go toとarriveとの違い)について分からなかった。
数日後、Aさんが〇について分からないと共通の友人から耳に入った。
たまたまAさんとバッタリ会ったので。聞いてみたい。

この表現からだとAさんが共通の友人になると思いますが
共通の友人AさんからABさんが〇について分からないと聞いた
という表現に変えました。
「ABさんを含めて、数人のグループが、go toとarriveとの違いについて分からなかった。」
"Several people in the group including AB didn't get the difference between go to and arrive." など
「数日後、ABさんが〇について分からないと共通の友人から耳に入った。」
"A few days later, I heard from a mutual friend that AB didn't get _." など
