何かが本物か偽物か確認するときは「Verify」を使います。
例文：
- On TV the other day I saw a program where they were verifying products that the audience brought in were either genuine or fake.
本物は genuine （読み方：ジェニュイン）で、偽物は fake （読み方：フェイク）と言います。
「Inspect」と言う単語は、もっと広い意味で検証するというニュアンスです。
例えば、工場見学の一環で、検証する作業がありますが、これを「factory inspection」と言います。
検証するは

The appraisers inspect if the item is authentic or not,
(鑑定の人が、その物が本物かどうかを検証する)。
Last week I watched a tv show where antique experts
(先週、あれテレビ番組をみた。アンテイークの専門家が)
