試すって英語でなんて言うの？

「試す」はこの場合だと「test」を使います。

バイトの子にわざと難しいことを言って、ちゃんとついてこれるか試すことにしました。
"I tested the new girl at work by saying something difficult on purpose to see if she could keep up."

部分で見ると：

I tested〜by saying something difficult 難しいことを言って試した

the new girl at work バイト先の新人の女の子

on purpose わざと

to see if she could keep up ちゃんとついてこれるか（それをわかるために）

「試す」の一番近いが「test」になります。

力を試す　ー　To test one's strength
自分の英語の能力を試す。　ー　To test your English skills
それは、英語の語彙や発音などの能力を試す試験です。ー　That is an exam which tests your English vocabulary and pronunciation skills

「Try」もよく聞かれています。
私はそれをもう一度試す。　ー　I'll try it one more time
このソースを試してみて　ー　Try this sauce!

試すはtryかtestといいます。testとtryの後にoutも付けます。Test outとtry outになります。
