保持は「preserve」や「maintain」になります。
「preserve」は"維持する、保存する"で「maintain」は"保つ"と言う意味になります。
例
・I want to preserve this in it's current condition（これを今のまま保存したいです）
・I want to maintain it's current state（現在の状態で保ちたいです）
「服がオリジナル状態をずっと保持する」と言いたい時maintain使えば良いと思います。
Maintainの意味はよい状態にしておくという意味です
高い洋服は綺麗に扱っているつもりですが、買ったばかりの状態をずっと保持するのは難しいです
I hope to take care of my expensive clothes well but it is hard to maintain the original condition of when I bought them.
