まず「子供」は英語ですと：
child / kid（子供一人）
children / kids （複数の子供）
son (息子）
daughter (娘）
などの言い方があるので、どれでも使えますが今回の例では前後に子供をおく、つまり子供二人という設定にするので children を使います。
I put my children in the front and the back of my bicycle.
（私は子供たちを自転車の前と後ろに乗せます）
また、ママチャリの説明をしたい時にはこのように言えます：
There are seats for children at the front and the back of the bike.
（自転車（ママチャリ）には子供用の席が前と後ろにあります。）
